Ballet & Tap Year 2 / Year 4
BALLET:
Ballet is an art form created by the movement of the human body. It is theatrical – performed on a stage to an audience utilising costumes, scenic design and lighting. It can tell a story or express a thought, concept or emotion. Ballet is the basis of all dance disciplines.
TAP:
Tap has evolved as an American dance form, popularised throughout the world. The dancer uses their feet to strike the floor, beating out different rhythms, with dancers wearing tap shoes, which have small metal plates on the toe and heel to give the distinctive sound. Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on stage in musicals.
